Jennifer McIntosh, was born on the beautiful Caribbean Island of Jamaica, and now resides in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. As a child, Jennifer’s favorite past time was drawing and painting using watercolor. She attended primary schools in St Catherine Jamaica, and upon entering the United States as a young teen; she attended schools in Washington, DC. Jennifer studied art throughout her high school years and has taken correspondence art courses with Art Instruction Schools in Minneapolis, Minnesota. She also studied at Prince Georges Community College, in Largo, Maryland. Jennifer’s artwork is primarily done in oils and acrylics. She uses variety of styles to express her wide view of the world of art.
Jennifer has dedicated her time and energy creating exciting arts for children and adults. Her first self-published painting is “Learning Young”, a fine piece of art displaying cultural awareness at a young age; created especially for children. Her art work was featured in the 2003/2004 issue of the Caribbean Pride Magazine. Jennifer’s art piece “Sea of Galilee” is featured on the cover of The Journal of Negro Education, Volume 78-Winter 2009 issue, published by Howard University. Her historical painting of president “Barack Obama” is also featured on the cover of The JNE, 78:4, fall 2009 issue, published by Howard University. Her Caribbean painting “Market Scene” glared the cover of the 2008 Jamaican Nationals Association brochure, for the celebration of Jamaica’s 46th Independence Anniversary. Jennifer’s wide range of art was exhibited at the Newton White Manson in Mitchellville, Maryland, with attendee such as former Prince Georges County Executive, Jack B. Johnson; former Prince Georges County Sheriff, Michael Jackson and Mr. Eugene W. Grant, Mayor of Seat Pleasant, Maryland, just to name a few. Her art adorns the wall of former Trinidad & Tobago’s Ambassador, Marina A. Valerie, and Jennifer has acquired customers such as nationally renowned entertainer, Roberta Flack.
Jennifer is a member of “ArtWorks @ 7th, a co-operative gallery in North Beach, Maryland, and is a donor to the Coppin State University Helene Fuld School of Nursing in Baltimore, Maryland. She operates an art gallery in her home in Upper Marlboro, Maryland. Jennifer also specializes in creating beautiful portraits for families and individuals.
In addition, Jennifer is also an accomplished theatrical performer. She has appeared in numerous productions including: The Trip, The Opening, Hamlet, Found in Space and The Arranged Marriage. She has appeared in films such as “Head of State”, starring Chris Rock, “Hitting the Ground”, Twilight of the Dogs, A Razzin in Grindstone and a public service announcement for DC T.V.; including voice-overs She has also appeared in an episode of the TV series “The District”, starring Craig T. Nelson, and has worked on the stages of Encore Theater, Creative Ascent and the Folgers Conservatory/Shakespeare Theater.
